Is Pregnancy Massage Right for Me?
Pregnancy Massage is both safe and effective for the majority of mothers-to-be. You can start at any point in pregnancy, including up to and past your due date in healthy pregnancies. There are some instances when massage may not be appropriate, particularly in a high-risk pregnancy or with certain health conditions (such as pre eclampsia or gestational diabetes for example), so we always advise checking with your doctor or midwife first. What is Pregnancy Massage like?
At BodyMatters Clinic all pregnancy massages are carried out by highly qualified pregnancy massage therapists on a tailor-made pregnancy massage table. This special table has three holes – one for the belly and two for the breasts – allowing mum to lie face down for the first time in possibly months. The holes have a ‘sling’ type support cloth for the ‘bump’.
Pregnancy Massage Techniques
The techniques used during a pregnancy Massage is gentler than most of our other massage therapies. Your therapist will direct the treatment to enhance specific areas of the body such as the lower back, circulatory and lymphatic systems, to help ensure a healthy flow of blood to mother and baby, and effective removal of toxins and waste. Is Pregnancy Massage Right for Me?

Results & Benefits of Pregnancy Massage
Massage during pregnancy not only feels good, it has many therapeutic benefits for both mum and baby. Touch helps nurture mum as her body is changed, challenged and stressed in many ways. It can also give great relief from the normal discomforts associated with pregnancy such as back ache, stiff neck, leg cramps, headache and sinus congestion relief, oedema and swollen ankles and feet. Finally, pregnancy related back and pelvic pain can be a real downer and massage can help soothe tense, tight and tender muscles and joints that undergo excessive stress and strain during pregnancy.
